find the distance between each pair of points.

A(-4,-4), W(-2,2)

i solved twice and got two different answers. the first one was square root 40
and the second one was square root 8

I solved it out to be square root of 40

d ² = (- 2 + 4) ² + (2 + 4) ²
d ² = 4 + 36
d ² = 40
d = 2√10

You might need to memories the distance formula, depending on your teacher.
distance=√[(x1-x2)^2+(y1-y2)^2]
this problem is
distance=√[(-4+2)^2+(-4-2)^2]
=√[(-2)^2+(-6)^2]
=√(4+36)
=√(40)
This is the correct answer, but I like to simplify and so do teachers
=√(4)√(10)
=2√(10)

sqrt ( (-2-(-4))^2 + (2- (-4))^2)

sqrt ( (2) ^2 + 6 ^ 2

= sqrt ( 4 + 36

= sqrt 40 = 2 * sqrt 10
