What is the range on the pH scale? Where are acids on the pH scale? Where are bases on the pH scale? What are neutral substances? Where are neutral substances on the pH scale? What are buffers? Why do cells and living organisms need buffers? Some of these questions I have the answers too, I think, about two of them from online research, but I'm still unsure and need to double check my anwers. Thank you so much for your help. :)

The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14.

7 is neutral.

Anything below 7 is acidic. The lower the number, the stronger the acid. A pH of 2 is a much stronger acid than one with pH of 5.

Anything above 7 is basic (also called alkaline). The higher the number, the stronger the base. A 13 is much stronger than a 9.

A buffer is a substance that maintains the pH within a narrow limit. All living things need buffers to keep the pH from getting too high or too low. We require a pretty narrow pH range - too high or too low, and we die.
