Riding mower deck will not drop down?

Scenario: I have never had to do this before, so I don't know much.

Problem: mower deck will not drop down, belt seems loose

Mowing semi wet grass, about 8 inches tall. thick.
Mower stops and then I crank it back up qnd the deck will not drop down.


I know what I did was terribly stupid but, can I try to tighten a pulley or something and see if that is the problem?

I am going to take a guess here. I think that you have a bunch of wet grass on the mower deck preventing things from working. You need to clean that all off and hose it off. Include the levers that attach to the mower deck from the tractor. I would pull the deck off of the mower and check all the pulleys and the belt.
