News Flash - Blue States already subsidize Red States by the unfair redistribution of federal taxes.
All of us progressive tax, wealthy blue states (CA, NY, MA, etc.) subsidize the defunct, Republican-run states of the south and great plains. We get LESS money back from the government than we pay to it, and red states get MORE back. It's a measured fact.
Do you know how even MORE crappy it would be to live in Oklahoma or Georgia if it wasn't for the money they get from those Blue, Democrat-run states people so often love to criticize? If I was from a red state, I would hold my tongue when talking about taxes, cause us in the Blue States are helping to pay their way.

You have to do a lot of generalizing and simplifying to say "the blue states are wealthier," and therefore propose a tax policy based on such a generalization.
If anything so ridiculous as this ever happened, you'd create a race to the bottom tax bracket, and all the rich would pack up their Land Rovers and move south where they didn't have to pay taxes.
Whenever you create state differentiation like this, whether it's welfare or taxes, you encourage people to move where they will be able to get or keep the most resources.

The net exchange between the states and the Federal Government--the difference between Federal taxes paid and Federal expenditures in the state is not even by state. Amazingly, the Blue states have a net payment to the Federal Government; the Red states (that loudly trumpet reduce Federal Government) get more from Washington than they send to Washington.
Sources: lots of economic studies that take work to pull together in one place, but you can do it.
Rationale: I haven't the foggiest idea why Red states are so opposed to Government spending since they get a disproportionate share of it.

The blue states do pay greater in taxes and the pink states receive greater. there have been 2 classes of interior sight taxation. From the tip of the Civil conflict to the hot Deal, the south paid to the north interior the fashion of conflict reparations. while FDR have been given elected, the north began paying the south and its been like that ever because of the fact that - it particularly is a substantial defining functionality of the "New Deal." Its style of ironic now pondering who will pay the taxes and who's against the taxes. yet i think of multiple the wealth/income disparity is relative to inflationary rules and value of living discrepencies. i will stay a similar existence-type in FL as CA, it merely expenditures a million/2 as plenty interior the pink state. If decrease income merely potential decrease taxes and decrease loan/assurance/foodstuff expenditures, what's the disadvantage?

I think tax brackets help solve this problem. Are you saying a poor blue state person should pay more taxes than a poor red state person? That doesn't even make sense.

We do. And it's distributed to the red states. Didn't you see the study?
[ Call it the mystery of the red and the blue.
After the presidential election, many have noticed the irony of how some of the more conservative, culturally red states seem to receive more in federal spending than they pay in federal taxes.
Meanwhile, some of the more liberal, culturally blue states seem to receive less in federal spending than they pay in federal taxes. ]

Maybe we should have people move into states that match their party so that states only consist of all democrat or all republicans. However , what do we do if someone is independent or neither. Your idea is going screw up the entire election system if we do did that.

We already do... states that frown on abortion and support wal-mart are the biggest drag on welfare with the least tax support.
