I own a Crown Victoria. It had an oil leak (which Wal Mart did not think it was important to tell me each time I got the oil changed) and now the engine is blown. I do not know whether I should try to sell it, if someone is wanting to fix it up, sell it to a junk yard or donate it to goodwill.
My crown vic is a 1994, 115k, has power everything and leather interior. Of course, the drivers seat leather is cracked from not only being 13 years old but from the previous owner not really taking care of it. It has a cracked windshield, needs new tires and the bumper has a hole in it from being hit by a drunk driver.
I love the car but is it worth fixing? Should I try to sell it and just get a new car? Would I get anything if I donate it? I do not own a house or do any itemized deductions so would it benefit me? The junk yard is wanting to give me $80 bucks. . It think it is worth a little more than that. . . HELP!

its not really worth putting the money in to now,if it didn't need all the other repairs done to it id say yes its worth putting another engine in to,but id sell it for parts or donate it,its going to cost way more to repair it than it will ever be worth,id let someone else worry about it,good luck with it.

If I had it, I'd try to get something out of it. First, it sounds like not a huge problem. I'd get a trusted mechanic to diagnose it & give an estimate (it'll cost a little, but if it's a cheap fix it's worth it. And the cost to diagnose will be applied to the repair cost). If it was too much to fix or you have no trusted mechanic, I'd try to sell it as is (but not try very long - LOL). If no quick sale, I'd sell it to a junk yard. If the junk yard won't give you much (your decision on how much is reasonable), then I'd donate it & get a tax receipt. BTW, I had a Villager until I traded it in last year. They are actually Nissan Quests (both were made side by side on the same assembly line) and very reliable. I bet it's not an expensive fix.

With that many miles and needing some other repairs then I would think about selling it at best offer or if you can part it out then take it to wrecking yard.If you really like it and would like to keep it than maybe look at getting a new motor. I would not donate it I did that once and I got into a lot of trouble with that as they did not do with it like they say and I recieved many tickets at which I had to take time to fix. The car was left on the street and then striped down.(so much for people in need).

nobody is going to buy new tires would be like 500 - 600 engine about 1200 - 1500 other details around 500 thats over 3000 in repairs you think someone would actually buy it i dont think so a junk yard will only give you up to a 100 dollars you cant donate i think if you donate it it has to be runnig car so your best bet is to junk it and get the 80

You can find used engines at "junk yards" or even on Ebay for this car for about $1500.00. Then you would have to pay for installation for about $500.00. You can find this car for sale on Ebay from $800.00 to $3,000.00. So this would be up to you if you want to spend this kind of money on it. If you can only get $80.00 from a junk yard, I would donate it. The organization would give you receipt for probably the $3,000.00 which would help you on your deduction's. I am not sure how the I.R.S. determines values donated cars. Hope this helps.

Every car I've come across needs tires, oil, gas, and had a ding or two.

If it runs good, and it's dependable? Keep it till it dies.

You could get another 100,000 miles out of it.

It might not be the newest, prettiest, of fastest car, but it sure is dependable.
