If you are dealing with a business or a person whom claims to be self employed, Try looking/searching at the better business Bureau.

More info would help. If you don't want to me scammed, more than likely it is a business transaction.

You could check with the Police Dept.

Good Luck, faith

You need to be creative, watch you steps and watch the other person steps and the move.

Even when you seek a private eye to do a good job and pay money, there is no guarantees that they can dig deep enough to find out all that you need to know.

Start making a list and start investigating on your own then strick it off the list, go slow but steady.

The fact that you want to check up on someone means you already have a doubt about them. Listen to those instincts and tread carefully.

If it is someone you've met online, be extra careful. Never arrange to meet someone you've met online, if you are alone. And if you are young, ie under 21, be extra careful. There are a lot of weirdos on young people's social sites, who pretend to be kids or teenagers but are anything but, and that will be very dangerous.
