Rozen Maiden is gothic, and has some dark stuff, but just a few action and supernatural things. I think you should check it out though!

Vampire Princess Miyu is my personal favourite, but the action isn't always so... "active"... It's more about casting spells and banishing demons than FIGHTING!!! But, it is thought-provoking and interesting.
