lots of touristy things, very beautiful ( in the summer time-cold,endless damp, rainy weather 7 months out of the year - my cell phone corroded internally & I have never dropped it in water !), lots of lakes & salt water bodies of water ( too cold to swim in 9 months out of the year - but nice if you have a boat ); great skiing and hiking.( endless trails etc. )

nice place to visit - but long term IT SUCKS !

cost of living is very high, most places are low crime areas only because rich developers have driven out all the black & ethnic "hoods," what "ethnic" places left are basically ethnic amusment parks - IE a large cluster of ethnic businesses, downtown area pretty safe except the occasional shooting in Pioneer Square, weather (Seattle is usually in the 40-50s most the year - Summer it gets very hot for about a month & January it dips into 20;s ), People here are generally well educated ( there is like 5-10 colleges in 50 square miles), probably the most liberal in the country, mostly over weight, and unsophisticated ( IE dress very dumpy - even downtown - nothing but cheap suits, men dont wear ties unless they are lawyers ) Men are usually self-absorbed software types who are wired from binge coffee drinking ( because it always seems like morning there ) women generally dont wear makeup, are painfully pale & also dumpy dressers ( IE they dress comfortable- sandels with socks, Jeans) Best places to live are usually out of reach pricewise unless you are moving from LA or Frisco. - best places Bellevue, Kirkland, Seattle City proper, Issaquah, North Bend.

People in Seattle are very polite but UNFRIENDLY - It is the last place on earth if you are a people person or one who needs friends - Seattlites generally have few friends & are very self absorbed- the fact it is the suicide and serial killer capital of the US is telling ( IE Bundy etc. ) Try to get a psychologist in that town - try it - they are all book!

I hate that place .. it really sucks - but strangely, Microsoft, Google & Boeing are there & they are going gang busters ?..opps I forgot - the weather drives you in doors - so would you rather be hiking in the rain or working in a cozy office that has a cot & free soda in the cafeteria like MSFT ? However, if you care about everyhting PC, and like beards, and Star Trek and grunge, and irreverant people - then by all means check it out ..

Shoreline to Seattle or Bellevue to Seattle - both about 12 miles Note, though that Bellevue to Seattle means traveling over the 520 or I-90 bridge which can be VERY slow - while Shoreline to Seattle is traveling South on I-5. So if your question is whether to live in Shoreline or Bellevue if you're working in Seattle I'd go with Shoreline. It's also a bit more affordable than Bellevue.

Wet; grey; cold in winter; cool in summer. If you're not REALLY into nature stuff, don't move here. Also, it's best if you REALLY like water - LOTS of water. Grey skies about 300 days of the year, according to the National Weather Service. Earthquakes from time to time, and of course there's Mt. Rainier 40 miles away. The people tend to be very reserved; some would say unfriendly. The cost of living is VERY high here - a very ordinary house is $400,000 easy.
