Go see a naturopath, two medical doctors, a psychologist and a psychiatrist. Be absolutely certain depression is the problem as it is highly overdiagnosed, much like ADHD. It could be stress, psychological problems, health issues, lifestyle, a bad job, lack of sleep, etc. It depends. Depression has gone from being a legitimate mental illness to a coined term in pop culture and social terminology for unhappiness, character flaws, the blahs, boredom, bad relationships, irresponsibility, immaturity, etc. So take a pill and forget it, that's the saying, that happy pills will solve everything and now over twenty-five percent of the population takes unnecessary prescription drugs.

There are handbooks by David Burns (I am sure of the last name, but not the first name) that gives many strategies for tracking and getting off of depression. The other alternative is see a therapist. There are therapists online as well, some of them are free. Beating depression can take awhile and there is not enough room to describe everything here.

Stay around people a lot. I know that sounds really weird, but it's better than any medication. Find a nice group of people and just hang around them for a while. Try to always be doing something fun, like going to a movie, or just a walk in the park. Even though the thing you want to do most is just sit down keeping busy will help a lot.

Think positive and try meditation, there are lots of books in the library on the subject, and try breathing breathing in and pushing your stomach out, depression can stem from not enough air reaching the brain. I know it will definately make you sleep better

Get out of the house! Find something to keep you entertained. The computer is a poor substitute. If depression is effecting your health then it's time to see a professional.

you need to figure out why you feel like you do. i was depressed and i made myself feel better by buying brighter more colorful clothes. also try smiling at random people (i know it's strange but trust me it works). eat happy foods such as small amounts of chocolate, strawberries. have a pamper night, have a long bath, with candles and what ever else you like, wash your hair, shave your legs, put a face mask on, and make yourself feel pretty, then the next day when you go out dress pretty, it works for me and my friends, or have a girlie night.

Have you tried talking to a pastor or counselor? It sounds like you need to. One thing I do is I listen to ttb.org. It brought me out of depression. It took me more than one year, every day. I'd had lots of bad experiences. It brought me to see life isn't so bad. for encouragement listen to ttb.org. and get a good counselor.

you should get out of your house and meet people, go out, have fun. but most importantly, you should try to think what is the source of your depression. I would personally recommend hypnosis.

just think of the cause of your depression, and say "chu know what, Im better than this" and just say "I must be the minority, I mean come on, i got people who love me, and i am a human being." or something like that.
