When did you begin becoming anti-American and why? And what makes you so arrogantly sure that you know Americans enough to hate them? George Bush as president isn't enough to use as an excuse either. I mean your real underlying reasons for hating the USA and Americans.

I don't hate the USA or Americans, but I am anti-Bush, definitely.

Anti-Imperialism is a good start. It's a bit hard to be patriotic towards America when you believe in respecting the rights of other nations.
But being anti-American is quite different from hating people who happen to live there.

I would not say I'm anti-American but I believe that I have a global understanding of why some people would be.

First of all, you have to understand that outside the United States people's lives are affected by actions of the United States government everyday, whether they like it or not. Just one example, in the late 70's the people of Nicaragua had elected a new form of government that had succeeded in overthrowing a five decade dictatorship that had focused more on meeting the needs of the upper class than those in the lower class. It was a triumph that was celebrated nationwide. However, the young government promised to help the lower class on the basis of socialist roots. Mr. Reagan disapproved of this form of government and at its very early stages, without giving the new government a chance to develop, ordered an economic block from the rest of the world. This meant Nicaragua had to rely from internal resources that it did not have to meet people's demands. As supplies grew less, private ownerships fell, unemployment grew, and as a result, the economy fell. Moreover, Mr. Reagan, being denied approval by congress to invade Nicaragua, also sent weapons of mass destruction to mercenaries from neighboring Honduras to enter Nicaragua and overthrow the young government. Innocent lives were lost, as these mercenaries entered neighborhoods. The case which I have described is not isolated to just Nicaragua. Leaders from the United States have taken actions such as these throughout history in many different parts of the world. They persuade the common folk in the United States to believe they are doing it for just causes. The negative effects of their actions are never really a part of their speeches.

Second of all, the United States promotes lifestyles that in some parts of the world are prohibited through media -television, music, etc. Various Hollywood movies show homosexuality as acceptable, music videos show women portrayed as sex symbols, etc. Do you think they worry about respecting, say, Middle Eastern ideals when these types of movies are shown in the theatres in say Baghdad? Nope. The youth in these countries begins to believe the "American way" no matter what their forefathers and religion have taught them and in the process destroy their own culture.

Lastly, but almost as important as the other, maybe even more so, military pressence in the world. Bases are located in almost every country of the world. World police? Sure, we would like to think of it that way but how would you feel if the Saudi Arabian government had a military base in your neighborhood? I don't think you would feel to good correct?

That is why, as citizens of the United States, we should not be too quick to state that the world is jealous. There are other factors that we need to understand. Come election time, we have to make sure that the leaders elected in this country are people who will do what it takes to do right. This might be asking for too much, but certainly there are worse than others.

I love the people of my country - and love my country......It's BUSH I can't stand...what he has done to my beloved country is shameful. He will go down in history as the worst president we will ever have.

We are a resiliant people and will survive the Jerk and his cronies. It may take a while to recover from the thieves and criminals in the administration, but we will do it.

Because America has far more bad things about its history than good. The whole "manifest destiny" thing also irks me. We are not the world police.
