Man, I can think of 20 off the top of my head that are great players, that I like watching, but I'll narrow it to 5. My current top 5 favorite NBA Players (in no particular order) are;

Tim Duncan
Lebron James
Kobe Bryant
Steve Nash
Kevin Garnett

My All-Time top 5 favorite are;

Hakeem Olajuwon
Michael Jordan
Scottie Pippen
Shawn Kemp
Penny Hardaway

@ RJ...

I began watching around 1991 (I was 9), so yeah, I've watched mostly 90's to the present day NBA. So most of my favs are players that I have actually seen and grew up watching. I'm not saying these are the best players, their just my favorites. Certainly Magic is better than Penny, and Dr. J is better than Pippen, etc.

I Haven't seen much of the 50's, 60's, 70's, and I catch some 80's on ESPN Classic sometimes. I don't feel like it's fair to say my favorite all time player is Wilt or Kareem when I didn't watch them regularly in their primes. By the way, how old are you, and when did you start watching NBA ball?

Oh God. Just 5? Can I give you 25 instead?

Ok then, here it goes. I'll try to get this right.

1. Kobe Bryant. When Kobe decides he is going to take over a game and he gets that firey look in his eyes and then elevates his game to a place where he can break down 5 opposing defenders for a layup. That is why we watch.

2. Carmelo Anthony. Would a rose by any other name smell so sweet? How smoothly this giant can manouver around defenders.

3. Steve Nash. Hopefully American kids are watching closely. Hey Maurbery, this is how the point position should be played.

4. Jamal Crawford. Kobe lite, a real gunslinger.

5. Tracy MacGrady. Inconsistant, but when he's hot there will be no stopping him.

6. Dirk Nowitski. Again, when he is making shots there is no one better; but it's not very fun to watch someone miss a jumpshot.

1. Kobe Bryant (he is the most explosive scorer right now)
2. Dirk Nowitzki (he is a match-up nightmare, the best shooting big man)
3. Kirk Hinrich (the blue-collar point guard, he is a streak shooter and very good defensively)
4. Mike Miller (he should be in the USA team for 2008 Olympics. A versatile shooter)
5. Mike Dunleavy Jr. (he is good player, a very versatile wingman if he puts his mind into it)

Currently playing I'd have to go with:
Tim Duncan
Tracy McGrady
Manu Ginobili
Steve Nash
Ray Allen

As far as all-time:
Tim Duncan
Larry Bird
David Robinson
Patrick Ewing
Bill Russell

(As a side note, I have no idea how anyone could name Kobe as one of their favorite players... If you're a Laker fan, you've got to hate the way he has ruined your franchise, first by running off BOTH the greatest offensive force of the last 30 years and perhaps the greatest coach of all-time, and now by trashing the young talent around him instead of building them up and making them better. And off the court it's not as if he's any better, unless you're partial to cheaters and/or rapists. What gives? "He's talented?" And? So was Derrick Coleman.... How shallow do you have to be to root for that guy?)

Oh---and hey, Kev.
