I think the closest collective term would be to call them social creatures in that they live in and form a society.
Though social behaviours can in themselves have many different form, altruistic, egotistic, cooperative etc.

But calling them social animals or fish or insects or any creature would be the closest answer i could think of.

I think the collective term depends on the animals in question. As in flock of sheep, herd of cows, pack of wolves etc
