I saw a movie (rented it) that was so incredibly frightening to watch that it left me traumatized! Seriously. The movie (filmed sometime in the 80's) in its opening scene showed a normal American family going to bed and saying their good nights. Sometime in the middle of the night the smallest of the siblings, a little 8-10 year old girl, heard a noise in the living room. Frightened she hid in a closet and started hearing the voices of strange men in her house. It is a classic. I mean the film is so incredibly realistic of a break in, kidnapping, rape, and murder that it has to be one of the scariest films out there!

There's one called If I Die Before I Wake. Three intruders come in the house. They rape the brother and I think the mother. They tie the mom up to the shower head. The teenage daughter hides at first and then ends up fighting back and killing them. Very good movie.

hmm.. the only one I can think of is not really a horror movie.. Flesh and Bone with Melanie Griffith.. Her family is killed in the house.. the guy who did it brought his son in.. the son did something so he wouldn't kill the baby.. (I don't remember what).. Later on when she is an adult, her and the boy meet..
