Yes, it is a game you can enjoy for the rest of your life. Since online chess has become available it is a game which you can always find an opponent to play against.
There are also many books available (both in stores and in libraries) which can help you become a strong player.
The best part of chess however is that you can meet face-to-face people from all around the world. Many towns have chess clubs and you can enjoy chess while making good
friends.
One word of caution however, it is one of those things which
to some people can become too important. Enjoy chess but
don't ever let it cut into time you need to spend on studies and other important matters, such as family and friends.Good
luck in your games!

I find it dull. I like playing it with Steve Jackson Games' Knightmare Chess and Knightmare Chess 2. I also enjoy a variant called Bosworth by Out of the Box.

Chess is so amazing because nobody can really master it. Considering it looks like such a simple game to play, there are so many tactics to consider and no matter how good you get, there will always be somebody better than you. It's also great that there are books and millions of games posted that you can learn from...

I guess I'm not too into it. But I like checkers! You're probably a really smart and patient person, since chess requires that.

Chess is amazing. It teaches a wide variety of ideas, principles, and skills. That's why I run a nonprofit teaching chess to kids. :)
