the stereotype:
they grew long hair, bathed very little, smoked a lot of dope, went to protests, wore tie-dye clothes, ate granola.

Hippie describes a sub-culture that reached its peak in the '60s and '70s. They were known for their anti-war stance, free love, and anti-authoritarian viewpoints. They were known to be users of drugs, wearing tie-dye clothing, and living off the land. Patchouli (sp?) was a common fragrance of the day.

There are still a number of people who identify , at least in part, as hippies today.

ok if you don't know what a hippie is,ask your parents they were probably hippies...if you are at least a teenager.
