I hate to say this but it depends upon the grant. I for one got a grant from a foundation related to science when I was 16. Look at the T's and C's (the terms and conditions) or rules of the grant, and it will usually tell you. For example, you might have to be a small business, or non-profit, or have certain educational credentials, etc.

18 cause it is like a contract and you have to be 18 to sign a legally binding contract .
