My husband and I lost a baby girl last Aug at 21 weeks (Kimberly Ann) and when I asked my OB/GYN he said that no, unless something else was going on that I would not have to be on bed rest, but almost every woman I have spoken to has had to. My doctor told me to just take it easy. If I have to be on bed rest we are not going to try again because I don't think that it would be fair to our son...he is 3 and EXTREMELY active.

My son plays sports for YMCA...They have ages 3-7 teams so I have a lot of running around to do for that and my mother in law lives next door, but she is going through chemo treatments, so she is unable to help out.

I have not recieved a cervical stitch yet. I am at risk for cervical insufficiency but doc wants to do a wait and see approach to it. He told me that if we need to do the stitch that I would be in the hospital for a day or two to watch for miscarriage/preterm labor and infection. After that I could do what is comfortable as long as I was careful about what I lifted.
That being said I also have a 3 yr old son who is active as well as just figuring out the whole potty training thing so I know where you are coming from. I ended up on modified bedrest anyhow just becuase I have severe sciatica and can't walk due to severe pain in my legs...They go out from under me if I try to do much of anything.
I don't know how you feel about gameboy or other handheld games but I did get one for my imp and honestly it has been a lifesaver here. Also on demand with comcast for kids movies are very helpful.
We keep individual cheese sticks in the fridge door for him to pull out when he wants a snack and have the little cans of apple juice where he can reach them.
It's a little daunting at first but honestly they adjust to mommy having an "owwie" very well and will want to be helpful usually. Also plenty of book reading and coloring happen in our house as well as some of the games on pogo.com are very well loved by my son. He still bounces around like crazy and terrorizes the cat and dog but he isn't out of control and he gets the idea that the baby is making life hard for momma.
