This is not nearly as troubling as the alternative. Suppose GOD decided you didn't exist? Imagine there's no Lennon!

What is belief ? Or, more precisely, what is faith ? Isn't it intriguing, that in every race, every civilization that has ever been (not counting things like Communism because that is a political organization on how countries are managed) has a belief in some higher power ? Now bear in mind, these civilizations never came into contact with each other in antiquity. However, looking back, why is it that every civilization has had the NEED to believe in something higher than ourselves ? Why ? Where does this need come from ? If we are just animals (we all are on the inside) why don't we just go around 'existing' ? It isn't enough for humans to just 'exist'. Why is that ? Why must we try to find meaning ? Why search for something that doesn't exist ? What evolutionary purpose does that serve ? Unless there is a meaning to be found. Is that really absurd ? Do you feel that we really know every 'principle' upon which our view of reality is based ? Are there no more frontiers to explore, barriers to be surmounted ? Just items to be cataloged and discoveries made that furthers our scientific way of thinking ? Do we know all that we need to know ?

There is an apparent misunderstanding here. You seem to believe that there is an ability to prove a religious proposition.
I use the word "prove" in the sense that one can prove a mathematical proposition. I would also accept an experimental evidence type scientific proof as a valid method of proving something.
The problem with the Mathematical method is that mathematical proofs are based on a set of assumptions. There is no method of mathematically proving the assumptions. If the assumptions are changed the set of truths that can be proved changes. In most religious settings one of the assumptions is that God exists. The problem therefore comes down to the fact that proof is not something that mathematical methods can do to assumptions.
The problem with the Scientific evidence type proof is that there is no possible way to control God. There is no way to create a controlled experiment.

You can prove the existence of something; but you cannot disprove the existence of something. How can you prove something does not exist that you have already spoken upon? Once you speak on it, you bring it into existence for yourself and others. Proving that the 'One' does not exist first requires that you think about the possibility of the One's existence. In disproving that existence you must quantify God's characteristics, then rebuke them. You can't quantify the characteristics of something that does not exist. You cannot rebuke the existence of something that does not exist. All that you have proven is that you have been given the ability to question existence. Now all you have to do is find out from whence that ability came.

you have successfully proved that you are a yacky monkey who is very pleased with himself and his big mouth. maybe you can get a job at the newspaper as a movie critic. tell me, can you sit in perfect tranquility, silence and peace for a year without moving or interfering with others? or, can you make something? or do you just criticize what you do not understand?
this universe is both a very simple and a very complex place. there is a lot going on here, more than any of us can possibly fathom. I do not even approach knowing the scope and breadth of my own ignorance and folly. but I can tell you one thing I'm pretty sure of; reason and logic are not the principles by which this universe operates, they are only tools which we use for ourselves with a certain limited success. go ahead and use them freely, but be careful you don't start to believe you own b.s.
if you want to approach the divine, I recommend silence, openness, humility, and love. otherwise don't quit your day job.
peace be with you my brother.

Everything we have, the universe.. it had to come from somewhere. If you say it came from "the big bang," then I ask, who made the big bang? It couldn't have come from nothing. There had to be a starting point, and some higher power must have created it. When you think about it, and reason it out, it makes sense. There must have been some starting point in time that God created. I don't care that you disagree with me. I stand by my beliefs.

Well, just the thought that you want to disprove the existence of "one" means it exist.
But anyway, believing or not believing, God still Loves YOu.
Have you seen the rain...? it gives soothing coldness and water to all plant kingdom which in turn complete the food cycle of life for YOU and for me.

Unfortunately, it doesn't matter.
Someone who believes in a loving god is desperate to be loved. No amount of reasoning will address that fear. Good luck though with rational arguments in the face of emotional need.

You can’t prove that God doesn’t exist. You can only prove that God does exist and that’s if God appears in front of you and says “hey, I exist”.

You can not prove something you can not prove. They're simply probabilities.
Sadly, this will not help our survival, so it doesn't matter whether God does or doesn't exist.
He/she/it/all/none could maybe warp into another form which is not God. Or he/she/it/all/none could not.
