Cable, even though I would lose my Internet connection, I do not consider it to be a necessity.
Lights, gas, water & phone are necessary at our house.
Judging from most of the answers here, apparently, they did not understand what "utilities" means.
Maybe in details you might list them:
Lights, Gas, Water, Cable or Satellite, etc.

If you're not including phone or internet, I guess that doesn't include cable, either? That's what I would give up! Otherwise, you're talking electricity, water, and gas? I could give up gas because we don't have too much that runs on gas around here. Water and electricity I wouldn't want to give up, but I guess you can buy water if you need to.

We had our gas shut off once and that really sucked because you NEED that for hot water especially and heat. If you had no electric you couldnt use anything else at all, water is a must because how would you flush? I'd say I would go to the pawn shop before I would loose any of them! I would give up Directv though because I could watch tv online!!

wow...that's a difficult one...since utilities are only: water, electric and phone and you say not phone then you're asking only about water and electric and a person can't live without water...so what choice do I have? And no, I would not want to do without electric either.as electric too keeps my pc going. Maybe you thought something else was a utility?
haha...looks like the people who answered don't know what are termed "utilities" either, besides you...

gas, most everything in my house is electric... the weather is still warm enough to not need the furnace just yet... and the only other thing it would effect is not having hot water...
but since i have been without hot water before i have lots of big pots to boil water on the stove, enough to fill a bathtub anyway. ...
if i was without electric, i could survive, but its hard to keep food fresh, and i have issues with keeping food at certain temperatures...[ i did learn some things in school culinary class]

Wow! Great question, hmmm if I had to give one up I guess it would have to be the electricity. It would suck, but I can manage. At least I still have hot water!

Heat probably, don't mind bundling under countless amounts of comforters, and blankets. Besides, can always buy a portable heater.

I need water to live, so I could lose my electricity. I live where it never gets to cold, so I wouldn't be in imminent danger during the winter.
