Saying I am straight makes it clear that I am not interested in men. It doesn't bug me if a co-worker is gay and openly goes to clubs and organizations, or if supports same-sex marriage. Parades, weddings, coming-out parties, blah, blah, blah. I do not want to participate because these activities don't interest me. It doesn't mean I am against him or anyone else who is gay.

Does a gay man want to have to deal with women trying to convince him to go out with them? Having a label means identity and clarifies what people want and stand for or what they don't.

Kind of like the party at the neighbor I never met but was invited to. He's leaving. I am going for the free beer and food, and because my father needs someone to go with him since he is by himself and my mother won't sit in the same room with him unless he has to. So whatever, man.

I don't know if to consider it so much a danger, as limiting one's own understanding of others by classifying their interests.
Each person is different and has their own sexual attractions.
I have had to use labels sometimes in order for people to understand what I am explaining in matters of sex, but don't find them necessary. For example, I am a bisexual woman, very attracted physically to women, their femininity and graceful beauty, yet also attracted to the strength, mind and confidence of a man. I also like to experiment, not necessarily considering myself to be this or the other, to me, they are simply different areas within the sexual realm which I explore.
In categorizing people, we set a certain judgement and analysis as to who we think they are, and box them without giving thought that they may have other ways of expressing themselves sexually, not only limited to what we personally know about sex.

I've said this before...when it comes down to the essence of this, we are sexual beings with different interests, is all.

Your queston confuses me totally. A name to the part of the body or what? A name is a word, harmless.
