If you are in the UK, the employer does not have to offer you a permanent contract. However, the concept of short term contracts is pretty meaningless as after a year you get full employment rights and the employer needs to go through a formal procedure to get rid of you.

Im also working in a temporary position- as a contractor. I was told after a year they will "Possibly" offer me a perm position. But 9 months later Im still a temporary employee. Previous temp to hire employers have always picked me up after 6 months.
Im considering looking elsewhere, because I dont believe they will pick up any of us contractors up- we work holidays, "mandatory" 6 days weeks, shuffled schedules and no benefits. Mandatory ot you say? Isnt that illegal? Not with the lope hole phrase in our contracts of " Work schedules based on the needs of the company".
I love contractors.

regrettably you have not got any 'acceptable' to the interest, your place is one in all momentary conceal purely. good judgment could say that in case you have been doing the interest effectively for 9 months then it may be priceless the enterprise making your place everlasting as you like no coaching and by using now they'd have a stable concept of your applications and how you get on with your artwork friends. communicate on your supervisor or the HR branch rapidly away and ask in case you have got the everlasting place, have a short evaluate of what you have performed and how you sense which you're already effectively filling the region waiting. yet, you do not say what form of employers you have. in case you're in a branch of the civil provider then they are going to would desire to promote the region, internally a minimum of, and additionally you're able to would desire to take your danger against the different applicants ~ nonetheless possible think of which you're able to nevertheless have a head commence.

Thereis no legislation, law or requirement for them to hire you. Where I live in Arkansas, the large companies use temps "forever". It is so bad that the companies also own the Temp Services that they hire from.
