There is a group of German students that some school friends and I are hosting. We've all noticed that they kind of ignore and are mean to one of the other German students. We all think he is very nice and want to get him a gift when he leaves. What kind of gift would you suggest?

Maybe find out what his favorite part of his stay in America (assuming that's where you are) was, and get him something that can represent that.

Oh, and a book of photos is always nice.

But, on another note, realize that if you guys single him out, then there might be problems with the other students when they get home, since you've mentioned that they've been mean to him basically in front of strangers.

Perhaps an American Souvenir. You might try to find out what hobbies/interests this German Student has & buy him something based on that. Also- maybe something that would be a remembrance/keepsake of his time spent here in America (The US).

You know, in Germany, we don't really have the yearbook tradition, so a nice "American" gesture might be to make something similar for him: Buy an album , put some pics in of activities you did during his stay, and in the white space write stuff like "XY, I had a great time with you" and "keep in touch" and "You're fun to be with". That should cheer him up.
