Yeah, you can, and its not a bad idea if you can pay for it. It wont mess up your credit or anything, in fact, if you always pay your bills on time, your credit will look good.

You have to be 18 to sign a contract. No cell phone company will touch you until then.

Look into "premium prepaid" services.

BOOST Mobile, for example, offers a 600 minute plan with unlimited night and weekend calling for $70 a month. ($10 extra for unlimited Internet and text messaging.)

The trick is to lay off the phone during the day, and make calls after 7PM when all calls are free. As long as you keep ONE of your monthly "day" minutes unused, you can still call all nigh for free.

Also, BOOST offers a nationwide walkie-talkie service to other BOOST and Nextel phones.

If you live in California or Texas, you can buy a BOOST mobile phone with unlimited minutes. The phone costs about $80, and the first month's service is free. $50 or per month after that.

You could get a Prepaid phone at that age since there is no contract involved. In the U.S. you have to be 18 or have parental permission to enter any kind of contract, so you couldn't just go to AT&T or Sprint and get a phone.

You are not legally supposed to, no. Legally you can't enter a binding contract until you are 18. You'll probably need a "cosigner," and in the cell phone world all this means is that they'll be using this person's credit instead of yours. Unless you go with a no-contract phone, I don't think you will be able to.

16 is'nt allowed yet to get a postpaid phone subscription. I guess you should call your cellphone company and ask when is the right age. At the moment stick with your prepaid cell phone.

nope.. you usually have to have a bank account and be over 18. usually requires a credit card to check credit and a deposit.

I tried before i turned 18 and the people at at&t and sprint both turned me down.

prepaid is the way to go.. get a go phone .. you can add minutes at anytime
