I wanted to put up a black stencil image up in my house (on a plasticcy fabric roller blind) around 2m x 2m. I was thinking along the lines of maybe using a roll of black sticky back plastic and cutting out the shape, or buying a large piece of black cloth, and maybe attatching this with glue (although i'd much prefer not to use glue). Any sugestions on what material to use and also how to go about making a large template to cut by.

You can make your template, or pattern, on newspaper or brown paper bags. You can tape a bunch of them together if it's a giant sized shade.

How about if you make the pattern, place it on the shade, and then draw around it with a Sharpie marker? Then you could paint it with the new paints they have that will stick to plastic. The only problem is, I don't know if rolling the shade up and down will cause your paint to flake off. If it does. you could try coloring it with permanent ink. Sand the blind first to get the shiny coating off.
