The constitution guarantees the separation of church and state.

Actually George Washington, Tomas Jefferson and many others were atheist and although they felt you had the right to be what ever you want to call yourself you should make dictions for all people not just in the favor of like minded people.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." The Constitution says that "Congress shall make no law respecting an ESTABLISHMENT of religion, or PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF". That means that EVERYONE has the right to exercise their religion, even a President. BTW, why is it OK for all the Dem. nominees to admit they pray but not OK for Bush to pray?

About Washington being an athiest, I belive you are mistaken. "...Still further to realize their expectations, and to secure the blessings which a Gracious Providence has placed within our reach,..." (Washington's First Annual Message to Congress)
"Numerous as are the Providential blessings which demand our grateful acknowledgments..."
"The safety of the United States, under Divine protection, ought to rest on the basis of systematic and solid arrangements; ..." (Washington's Third Annual Message to Congress)

For someone that was an athiest, he sure mentioned "Providence" and "Divine protection" alot.

EDIT:
Why the name calling? Just because your point is invalid, you feel the need to call me names? I've been called worse by better.

EDIT AGAIN: No it doesn't:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;"

EDIT AGAIN:
If Bush is crazy for talking to God, what does that make Hillary for talking to Eleanor Roosevelt?

The bill of rights guarantees our right to religious expression. This includes our leaders. Maybe your uncle was actually crazy.

All religious people are crazy! They believe in all sorts of made up stuff. Sadly, they are 80% of Americans(of all political types). It would be nice if only Rational people got into public offices.....but the crazy religious people have too much power.

I would be great to have someone run for President who would say 'Religion is just some made up stuff that some people believe, but they are free to belive whatever they want, and I don't care'.
