Unfortunately, yes they still have sex ed in schools, and yes they do talk about birth control.

Most of the kids are not paying attention or are playing around and talking during the class because they think they know it all anyway.

Until they get into a sticky situation and start getting paranoid. All around them they see girls their age getting pregnant (who supposedly used birth control) and they wonder if it could happen to them, too.

I pray that they did not. There are so many people out there who are misinformed.

I think the issue is many children either fail to pay attention during this portion of education or fail to ask questions ( because they do not want their peers to think tthat they don't already know about sex and that they are not cool).

Sexual education is also very limited. Most schools are not allowed to teach about birth control methods at all. They teach you about the male and female parts but not much more. I know the only thing I learned about a males in Sex Ed was a physiological diagram of their parts. Absitinence is their policy. Problem is Abstinence is not a reality for most teens/young adults.

I took a Sexuality class in college as an elective and it taught me everything I ever needed to know about sex. I learned about all the possible STDS, levels of sexual excitement, sexual dysfunctions, the list is endless. I know I am going to get quite a few thumbs down for this, but I think that should be a mandatory class that everyone must take and pass before graduating from High school. Everyone would pay attention and work hard to pass because how dumb/ "uncool" would you look if you failed Sex Ed.

I am 25 and it scares me to death to hear 12 y/o's asking if they could be pregnant. If they were more informed they could at least make informed decision.

one girl was apparently being taught sex education at her church and they told her if she had unprotected sex a bath in fizzy lemonade would prevent her getting pregnant ?!

and high schools where helping orgenise 14 year old girls abortions behind their parents backs

I they did do away with it, I really think it needs to be brought back. And if they are still doing it, they really need to increase the amount of stuff they teach! These kids know nothing about sex!

Actually, you can get pregnant without penetration. It's unlikely, but totally and definitely possible.
