Reading through some of the answers in the 'Royalty' section I have come across several remarks that Prince Harry is the son of James Hewitt.
Where did this allegation come from and is there any truth in it?

Diana has a brief liaison with the man but not until Harry was 2 years old. The fact that he has red hair has been enough to fuel these stupid, unfounded rumours.

The affair with Hewitt didn't start until after Harry was born. He gets his red hair from the Spencer side of the family and, at times and at a certain angle, he looks very much like Prince Charles; more so than William in fact.

I have no idea how this started. But Diana didn't meet James Hewitt till two years after Harry was born. Most people forget that the Spencer family has red hair. I think Prince Harry is more like his aunt Lady Sarah McCorquodale who has red hair like Harry.

The late Princess Diana had a long term affair with James Hewitt, a former British household cavalry officer. Diana admitted in her famous Panorama interview that she had committed adultery with Hewitt, saying, "Yes, I adored him. Yes, I was in love with him." As Diana was then the wife of the Prince of Wales, heir to the throne, this would be high treason, if prosecuted. The affair ended in 1992.
In 2002, Hewitt strongly denied long-standing rumours that he was the natural father of Prince Harry. He claimed that Harry was a toddler by the time he met Diana (Harry was born in 1984). However, in a 2005 interview with the television company Making Time Productions, Hewitt admitted under hypnosis that he had met Diana in 1981 or 1982 and that their affair began shortly afterward.
Prince Harry does look simliar to James Hewitt and nothing like his father Prince Charles or brother Prince William. However, there is a logical explanation for looking a bit different as his appearance does resemble more of Diana's side of the family. He looks very much so like his uncle, Charles Edward Maurice Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer (Diana's younger brother), and Prince Harry's two aunt, Lady Sarah McCorquodale (Diana's elder sister) and Lady Jane Fellowes (Diana's second elder sister).

Because they both have red hair but Diana and Hewitt did not go together until after Harry was born . Dianas family has red hair .But like the conspiracy theory about her death people are like sheep they always like to believe the bad things about a person .Instead of the good!!!

They were all speculations. Cause Princess Di had a affair with James Hewitt. And really I think Harry looks just like him...

Diana had an affair with Hewitt and he has red hair but so does Dianas brother and Harry resembles his uncle. But people always look for scandals and like to cause trouble.

Because he bloody looks just like him! His mum Diana did the dirty dirty with him for years and some speculate that she hooked up with him much earlier than originally thought and that he's Harry's pop. There's a lot of red hair in the Spencer family but the resemblance is just too coincidental not to take a closer look!!!

if you look at Prince harry and the Queen they both seem to have the same nose, so maybe the james hewitt thought goes clean out the window, eh?
He does not look a thing like his "father", but you can still see the queen in there, however im sure hed be rather horrified at that thought.

The fact that Harry had red hair fuels this rumor. However the Spencer family has red hair (look at Diana's brother and sisters). There is no way to ever prove it, the Queen would never allow a DNA test to prove it. Harry is her grandson, and that is forever.

well there is no truth to that story other then what the media and papers put out in public. The rumor was that Dianna had an affair with Hewitt about the time she became pregnant with Harry..... Harry does belong to Charles
