to me it is a toss up. In the books u get all the details, what things look like, how people think, but in a movie u get everything in color and can actually see things happening as opposed to just imaging it.

yes. books provide much more detailed descriptions and you get exactly what the author is trying to convey.
i have a book called 'the keep' by f. paul wilson that depicts basically a battle between evil and not evil (but also not necessarily good, either). it is one of the best books i have read and it was made into a movie back in '81. the dipshite who did the screenplay BUTCHERED the entire storyline and made it a battle between god and satan. the characters were shallow at best and most of the book was left out.
in my opinion, if you want a good story, go read a book. tv is nothing but trash

while reading a written publication, you're stimulating your brain. You transform your literacy and reading skills and you simply along the way, are more literate. Despite having today's modern tools, you need to be in a position to read still.
While you're watching t.v. can be good fun, it isn't doing anything to your brain.

that's like asking, "are horses and buggies BETTER than cars?"
"Are caves BETTER than houses?"
"Are typewriters BETTER than computers?"
"Are telegraphs BETTER than cell phones?"
"Are outhouses BETTER than indoor toilets?"
