The symmetry this has when compared to the abortion issue (i.e. - "premature withdrawal") cracks me up. Doncha think?

Dear god I love this question.
We have accomplished what was needed to take care of in Iraq.
lol, simple, bush is a complete dimwit. The control. The POWER. Who does he lol think he is?
There are no more reasons to be there. We should have been out of Iraq, not sure, 4 years ago!!
The idiot, (bush). My god what a name for a president. bush is playing a stupid god. People are so stupid. Ok, what would you call it? If not stupid. There's a good discussion for yah.
I've mentioned 7 years ago, that bush will be known as THE worst lousy no good embarrassing president in history!
A president represents the United States.
bush is no example for our country.
I've been so very disgusted with him ever since stupid people have voted for him.
Why do people want to follow stupid ideas? Or whatever you want to call it.
Understand, I'm referring to, following stupid, not sure what you'd call it, ideas.
It does show you how stupid people really are. People voted for bush twice.
I'm sorry this is a long answer. Maybe you can just use the first 3 paragraphs. That's if you use this for your class.
Again, sorry about this length of an answer.

No! We need to stay in there and finish the job!
We need to stabilize the country first before our
boys come home to leave now would be a disservice to all the soldiers who have been wounded or killed, were going to win this one!(no thanks to all you bleeding hearts) the perfect example of war is korean war why ?
because instead of listening to Macarthur blowing them back to the great wall of china we instead opted for splitting up the country(to appease the bleeding hearts back here who became disillusioned with the war)only to have another problem now 60 yrs later with north korea. Are we having problems with south korea no because the part we had control of is prospering and no longer a threat There can be no half measures when it comes to war. Some people say we already lost some2000plus sodiers do you realize that is miniscule compared to world war II when we lost that many in a single battle over a period of just a couple of days let alone over 4yrs!!would also add that when we went to war with germany we did'nt send 140,000 troops we had over 3million men. if we want to win this war we need more troops not less we need to secure borders to prevent weapons, explosives
from entering into the country you just can't do it with 140,000 troops if we would of went in
there with an overwhelming force to secure the place to begin with I don't think we would be there now. What will happen if we left iraq now is this the country would be exposed to subversive elements from iran which in turn we would have to deal with later, look at iran now
18 yrs they were secretly building nuclear facilities and was'nt exposed until a dissident
informed us of it if we leve our guard down now heaven help us!!!! We need to finnish the job!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not until the situation stabilizes.

If we pull out of a destabilized nation and have no control over how things get put back together, in every case it has been bad for democracy and the USA.

Post war Europe. Those nations that we stayed and helped ended up as free democracies and no threat to the USA. Those nations that we did not help, Eastern Europe, ended up with communist governments and became members of the Warsaw Pact.

Vietnam. We pulled out leaving a weak South Vietnam and the North took over. Now we got one Vietnam, a Communist nation.

Iraq. If we pull out before it is stabilized and strong, we will end up with a civil war where the Shiites will wipe out the Sunnies and it will ally with Iran. Then we got two rabid Islamic fascist nations out to destroy the USA.

CUT and RUN has never been a successful policy, be it from a bully in school to losing a war. If you do that, as the USA has in the past, your enemies just label you as a whimp and they come after you again later. If we do not draw the line there, they will be over here drawing the line.

To that effect, look at recent events in the USA. Where in the past the Muslims had done their own thing, now they want the rest of us to cater to them. Minneapolis: They want a private prayer room to be used ONLY by them in the airport. (shall we call it a mosque?) They want foot washing bathes also. They want Muslim taxi drives to be able to refuse customers because they got a bottle of booze or a canned ham. Florida: They want their women to get their driver's license photos with complete head covers so all you can see is their eyes. And the do not want the police to be able to tell them to uncover so they can check the face of the driver.

They are starting to draw the line here. They not only want to be able to practice their faith, they want us to be put out as they do it. What is next, when it is prayer time for them we are all to stop moving around and wait until they are done? that is how they do it in Saudi Arabia.

People don't make the obvious connection to the USSR and Afghanistan. Although the invasion was wrong in both cases leaving before there is stability in the country is irresponsible and inviting terrorism and another conflict in the future. A true leader will stay the course until there is a stable government in place. I hate to say it but Bush is staying the course but that is so unpopular.

If you want an honest opinion, dont look to a politition, they are all lieing about the war. We havent WON a war since WW2, The polititions wont let the Army do what has to be done to WIN. I would like to have only the Countrys leaders fight, that way we wouldnt have so much strife, and young people could live normal lives.

No, because if we do, it will cause one of two things to happen:
1.) Iran, a Shi'a state, will invade Iraq (which is sort of half-and-half) and turn it into a Shi'a state, and there will be a string of Shi'a Muslim nations: Iraq, Iran, and Syria. President Ahmedinejad (Iran) will use Iraq as a base to launch his nuclear missiles (he has them, no matter what he says) into Israel, thusly wiping Israel off the map. (During one of his inaugural speeches, he said "The world would be better if Israel was wiped off the map").*
Since Saudi Arabia, a Sunni state, does not want to see a Shi'a expansion, Saudi Arabia would rush in and attack Iran as Iran was taking Iraq, and it would be WWIII.

2.) The US would look like jerks for not finishing what we started, and we would lose all our allies: France, Germany, the UK... everyone. Not only that, but no one would want to enlist, since it would technically still be a time of war. A loss of allies + lower military forces = extreme vulnerability for the US, both diplomatically and militarily.

(*Ahmedinejad, a Twelver Shi'a Muslim, wants there to be chaos on the world so that "al-yawm al-Qiyamah" (Day of Judgment) can be ushered in and the twelfth Imam (Imam Mehdi) can return and bring peace to the world, similar to the Apocalypse in Christianity.)

I am a Canadian---and YES!! they need to be brought
home. We have a friend over there and a young friend
of ours is being sent next year. I feel the war was against
the wrong person. The taliban claimed responsibility for
what they did to your country. It made me angry and wept
for those that died. I pray that all of our troops will be sent
home--not much progress has been made. If they stay?
If they go home it will revert to where it was--a horrible
place to be.

The war should never have been started, but now that it has, I think the wrong decision would be to leave. Don't get me wrong... this is a stupid, messed-up situation, and I know it's about oil and contracts, but if we left now, it'll just be more stupid and messed-up. It would create a more massive civil war, and we would probably "have to" return in order to eliminate a government that is sympathetic to the terrorist cause. With all of the natural resources available to whoever is in charge, that really could end up bringing the war to our doorstep.

Then again... maybe they'll remain too tied up just trying to defend what they have. Never really thought about THAT.

I do not buy into the theory that we now have the responsibility to clean up the mess in their country (which was caused by the war). That is what happens when countries go to war. I think the US troops should be allowed to come home and let the Iraquis clean up their own country. They resent us for being there, anyway. They want to "fix" things their own way. We should get out and send the troops home!

Yes! Definately pull those poor soldiers out of Iraq and bring them all home. Why are they even there at the first place? Does everybody in America know why are we in Iraq all this time sending young men and women there in harms way? This war shouldn't even had started in the first place, but it has lasted this long with huge casualties. This war is pretty much about oil again. Every gulf war is about oil.
