Ok...so I live in Virginia...this past weekend I have found out that right hand drive cars are indeed legal. I am posting this question to find out if there are any hidden fees/stickers and what not that I would have to buy in order to drive a Renault Clio

My buddy was Stationed over here in the U.K. and when he returned to your 'side' of the pond he took a 1969 Austin Mini back to Va. with him as far as I'm aware he hasn't had any problems other than switching his headlamps to left hand drive units.(They dip to the opposite side) Same as I've had to 'convert' my Chevy lights over here!
Just remember to position yourself on the road correctly,it's easy to forget and you'll have 3 feet of your car on the wrong side of the road!!!

First of all, any car imported to the USA must meet (or be converted to) DOT and EPA standards! The fact that it is a right or left hand drive will not matter, but you will have to have the emissions system, and most likely the headlights and tail lights converted!

Before you make the choice to buy, be aware of all the costs! You are most likely looking at thousands of dollars in conversion costs!

Good Luck

I have a RHD jeep in Fairfax, VA and there is/are no special requirements. You will be okay to drive the Renault. There are no hidden fees/stickers.
