I had a manager who was from Scotland, He claimed they all saw the Monster, but only around the holidays for some reason, do not know what the correlation.
By the way I grew up on the shores of Lake Champlain where Champy resides. I saw Champy in the summer, but never in the winter for some reason, oh yeah the really thick ice! Thinner these days of course.

I believe the documentary I saw on tv that said the perpetrator later admitted his hoaxed photograph, and that also showed how Nessie has become such a tradition that it still brings in cash from tourists and souvenir hunters. Thus, that photo improved the local economy during the Depression Era and since.
