Elizabeth had to tread very carefully under her Catholic sister's reign - if you're asking about Mary I (Bloody Mary). Mary died, and Elizabeth became Queen.

Perhaps you're asking about Mary, Queen of Scots? This Mary was the centre of some plots against Elizabeth, her cousin. In the end, although it cost her much agonizing, Elizabeth had her executed at Fotheringhay Castle.

They got along fairly well. Mary was queen first, and the one in power. Elizabeth had no better claim to her power. It was only after Mary died that Elizabeth came to power. Are you perhaps thinking of Mary Queen of Scots, rather than Mary the older sister of Elizabeth, who was afterwards known as Bloody Mary to the Protestants who came to power with Elizabeth?

Just waited until she died ( she didn't live more than five years as queen ) and then she became bloodier than her.
The difference is that Elizabeth came after Mary, and therefore, she presented her sister as the bad girl, but Elizabeth ruled from 1558 to 1601 and was much worse than Mary. But you know, History is written by winners

After Mary's death, she set about exceeding her predecessor's legacy in terms of politically motivated executions, religious persecution, and cultural tyrrany. In all these things she lived up to her father's pathologically violent narcissism and her mother's capricious self-promotion.

She pretended to be Catholic while she prayed for Mary's death. After all Mary did threaten to have her executed.
