Morality and ethics often require that we do things that we should do and not necessarily want to do.

What did you do that you didn't want to do?

leave my boyfriend because we both wanted different things. we both loved one another VERY much and we had been together for a long time... but we realized that it would just not work in the long run and instead of waiting for things to get painful or ugly before we broke up, we decided to put an end to it while we still could remain good friends.

now we are the very best of friends and i guess we can accept the fact that one another has a new partner, but deep down, even though we understand what we did was the right thing, we kind of regret what happened (well, not regret in the sense of wishing it hadn't happened like that... but more of wonder what it would have been like if we were still together.)

i didn't want to to it. but i knew it was for the best. eventually i would have made him unhappy and he would have reciprocated... its better this way. MUCH better....

I have lived my whole life this way, doing things that I don't want to do because they are good for others and should be giving me happiness-a halo around my head but now I hate all this as I haven't lived a day for myself.

Didn't I also deserve some of this goodness? But it is too late now - seems!

Spent many years living the way I thought I should be living, based on principles passed onto me by my family, until I finally put it all together and was able establish my own moral principles and sense of self. True liberation, it's called growing up and doesn't automatically happen when you reach adulthood.

Morality and Ethics mean nothing as compared to a dough-nut chomping armed pig making you obey the law.

Tried living my life by the requirements and expectation placed on me when I was younger. As I got older, had to get away from all the requirements and expectations place on me just to live my life.
