Hey,

i'm 23 and my partner and I split up before our now 10 and a half month baby boy was born. I have access to him every week and am wondering about a few things - hope I dont sound too stupid haha

1) As of last week, my lil man will pull himself up everywhere and stand while holding onto furniture/my leg etc, obviously crawls etc, and says mum-mum, dad-dad and bub-bub fairly well. The question there is does that sound like he's developing well at his age? again it might sound silly but i've no one to really ask..

2) What games/things can I do with him at this age? There isnt alot to do when we arent at home. When at home he has his DVD's/toys etc, but when we're not, I feel like we're wasting time in shops etc as I only have him for 6 hours once a week.

3) What foods can I give him? When his mum packs his lunch, it's always mushed up.. I was wondering that if he wanted to, what else can he eat? He has two lower teeth and one upper just popped thru.

Thanks in advance!

1) all little ones develope at their own pace and boys ususally are more chilled back when it comes to walking and such. give him some time. does he have a walker? let him run in it...it'll help build up the muscles in his leggs...

2) games...pick-a-boo is always a good one. make time at stores educational too...although he's little, you can start teaching shapes and colors. talk about animals and what sounds they make. true, you may feel a bit silly walking in the middle of wal-mart oinking like a pig but it'll be worth it. and sing! kids LOVE to hear you sing. believe it or not, ol' mcdonald is educational and fun.

3) mushed up food? as in babyfood? in that case, you prolly still need to stick to the softer foods and you have to consider how many teeth he has. but if you choose to cook for him, go as plain as possible...don't add salt, pepper. and of course..go for the softer foods. they also make lovely gerber meals

good luck! let me know if ya got any more questions

Sounds like he is developing well, i think reading books always helps especially brightly coloured pop up books, this way not only are u spending quality time with him you are also teaching him, which is something to be proud of.
Learning toys are always a good buy and lots of fun for the child.
Sounds like your doing all you can already by spending the time you have with him instead of not caring at all. Do what ever you feel is best for him. Things he can eat are things such as rice cakes or maybe some banana. You would probly want to research futher in2 this though.

Take him to a park! There are tons of things you can do that don't cost money or need 'props'... Do you have a stroller? You could always go buy an Umbrella Stroller from somewhere like Wal mart - they are only 10 dollars and then you could take him on walks. Kids LOVE being outdoors and going for walks or to the park are great ways to spend time outside with them. Try and be creative with 'games' at home- kids are "easily amused" so you don't have to come up with elaborate schemes to keep them entertained. Try hiding a toy and have him find it. Kids will play almost anything. Just sit on the floor with him and build things with blocks or just play with some toys and just make silly faces at him - my kids always loved it when i would "over-do" my expressions- like acting surprised- or happy- not just smiling but getting the biggest grin you can and talking in a higher picthed voice...

Congratulations on taking such a great interest in your son. Many fathers don't so its always refreshing to me when someone is. Your son is right where he should be developmentally at 10 mos. Some games you could play outside could be patty cakes or itsy bitsy spider... or pack a few small books and toys and bring them with you. I don't remember what foods a 10 mos old can eat since my daughter is now 5 ... time goes by sooooooooooooo fast! Good luck and enjoy every day!

Sounds like he is a normal little guy to me.

Crawling at age 10 months - very good
trying to walk - even better.

As far as food - with only 3 teelth it is a good idea to keep him eating smashed up food. Another thing he will like, and it helps cut teeth - is little biters. They are a biscut that gets mushy as he drools on it. They all seem to like these things.

As far as games:
peek-a-boo
cover him with a blanket - cover his head pull it back and say BOO

any kind of interaction is great at this age.

Talk to him normal - dont use a baby voice or baby words.

Wave backwards - that way he sees the correct side of the hand, and maybe he will wave correctly.

it sounds like he is developing normally for his age, and will be walking in no time, and talking non stop.
some of the things you can do with him at this age is go swimming, most babys love the water, going for walks in his stroller, try going to the zoo or the beach or the YMCA. or just get a thing of bubbles from the store and blow them and he will try to reach and catch them.
Some of the things he can eat are cereal, crackers, ice cream, spaghettios, tv dinners( just cut the meat up into small pieces,) mashed potatoes. I would also encourage him to drink from a sippy cup, put in juice or water in small amounts. I would give him what ever you are eating just be careful the size it is cut in and do not feed him any honey, that is not good for baby's or small children.

It sounds like your kid is perfectly normal for his age.

Your best bet is to buy a book about kids.
I read "What Expect The First Year" There are also other books for the 2nd and 3rd years etc. It answered any questions I had.

Play with anything your son is interested in. As long as it's safe. Kids just like to be interacted with. Talking, singing reading etc are things to do with your son forever. So start now.
Good Luck.

shop your daughter's hair trimmed on the ends to ward off breakage and tangling. prepare a small volume of hair gel and a pass away in conditioner each and on a daily basis to help preserve it to boot. If she'll take a seat nevertheless long sufficient pony tails and braids are lovable at that age.

Reading is good for him, so pick up some books with big colorful pictures, he will like that. They have all kinds of finger foods you can give him in the stores or yogurt. As for him developing it sounds right, the books and you reading to him should help with his speech. good luck
