I am a ship's captain and this is my subject,
From equator to pole is 90 degrees and generally in navigation 1 degree is taken as 60 miles but due to the shape of earth (not a perfect sphere) the mileage is different.
Hence equator to pole is 6200 which is 90 degrees,
We can say that,
90 degrees = 6200 miles
or
1 degree = 6200/90
and we get,
1 degree = 68.888 miles
