oh i'm sorry...
ahmmm, the metal was suspended in the boiling steam for about 100 degrees then after that, it must be submerged into the cold water.. then there's go the question..
ahmmm, its an experiment about specific heat of metals than calorimeter was used..

The water clinging to the metal contains heat too. You only want to measure the heat of the metal itself to determine its heat capacity, so the water must be removed to avoid an overestimate.

The question is not clear since the context of the question is missing. And I thought that the hot metal will be dry because the water if any will be evaporated off.

because hot metal can react with water which is chemically H2O.to prevent that it should be dry.
