If we're keeping the whole "Why isn't god called supernatural" and for the Catholic Church "What are exorsisms if not supernatural" out of this then I'd still say as long as I can't give a reasonable answer to a question from a currently known scientific basis....then yes, I believe in many supernatural things.

I've seen a ghost, actually the same one several times from different places where I used to work and since I could rule out on the last occasion any external light source (and this was more than a blot of light) then I had to assume it was real.

I've talked to people who've died and one one occasion my life was saved by one of these people when they told me to slow down, just before I got into a very close shave with someone doing a particularly stupid overtaking manouver.

When I was 8 I had a dream about the police telling us someone had died....when I was 16 they walked into the room for real and the entire thing played out just like a video tape.

On the other hand I've had things like kettles start boiling in the middle of the night and even my mouse cursor moves across the screen by itself....but both turned out to have perfectly scientific explanations.

Technically unless science has all the answers there'll always be the supernatural...ie: outside the known laws of nature.

I do believe in the supernatural. At the same time, I do understand how many only believe in something that has literal, tangible proof of existence. I also understand that many don't believe there is such a thing as "supernatural". They simply feel that these are phenomena that cannot be explained because they haven't been studied and/or researched. I've experienced astro-projection and other "psychic ablilities" since I was a toddler. My grandmother had the same gifts. We had many conversations about what was "wrong" with me when I was little. She explained to me that there was nothing wrong with me, I had been given a special gift. When I was in high school, my grandmother moved back to Alabama to take care of her mother. We "visited" each other often. She was my best friend, and I shared all of my teenage melodramas with her; boys, school, work, college aspirations, problems with my mom being so strict, etc. She called my mom one day, asking her to give me a break. She told her that I was an employed 15 yr old honor student that had never given her any reason not to trust me. Needless to say, my mom was livid! She wanted to know why I was calling Alabama from Maryland, "telling" on her. I explained to her that I never called my grandmother. Of course she didn't believe me. That weekend, the phone bill came in. Boy was she shocked to see that there were no calls to Alabama on the bill. She then called my grandmother and wanted to know how she could possibly know details about my day to day life, without a phone call or a visit. When it was explained to her how we "visited" each other at night, my mom just about fainted! If you have never experienced a supernatural phenomena, then I truly understand skepticism and doubt. Having an open mind about things we cannot possibly understand builds tolerence for others. And, as someone who has these gifts, let me be clear that I am almost 40 now, and there are still things about my "talents" that boggle my mind. They defy explaination. I learned early on to just accept my gifts for what they are and let others believe however they choose.

Yes. Sometime back, I stayed at my relatives house in Oregon. In the middle of the night I awoke to a weird buzzing kind of sound coming from from down the hallway near the bedroom I was sleeping in. About fifteen seconds later this large black eyed " alien " creature
poked it's head in and looked straight at me while I was in bed. This was a real event. How do I know ? Because when I first heard the buzzing noise, I looked at the clock above my bed and noted the time. It was 4:30 a.m.

Here is the scary part. I stayed in my cousin's bedroom. She was killed in a car accident 4 years earlier.

I believe Spacepirate is on the right track. Yes there is spirit and yes it is natural. Spirits, "afterlife", energetic healing, clairvoyance, mediumship-all are real and all are natural. Just because some scientists don't understand something yet doesn't make it not real. & Sirdunny-I've seen lots of scams, also-in EVERY profession. Doctors, lawyers, car mechanics, psychics... Sure there are lot's of frauds and delusional people claiming to do things they can't, but if you pay attention, you will find that this is a world of instant miracles and breathtaking amazement.

Yes and no, because I work with science. Things with verified information. But, when I was a kid, there was this weird thing that happened to me. I was in my living room at night, in the house all by myself, watching tv. Not a light in the house is on. On my way to the bathroom, through a dark dining room, my parents' china cabinet door opened. It scared the poop out me. I immediately proceeded to PEE. I then turned all the lights on and found that door open. I went to the door and saw that, as it is closed, it is locked into place, and without great force of opening it, it could never open on its own, even if the cabinet was leaning at a forward angle. As an engineer, I still cannot explain it.

I believe there is no such thing as the supernatural. The unexplained phenomena so classified are merely natural effects and phenomena that have not been adequately explored or explained by scientific means. This does not mean I reject the fact that people have seen unexplained things. I just reject the idea that they are outside nature.

i've seen many strange things over the years, and some things pertain to me, i should believe but i have also seen too many charlatans over the years and this makes me cynical. i feel that there is either a scam or a rational explanation for things we term "supernatural"

Yes. Too much happens with too little explanation. You'd think so too if your TV kept switching itself on.
