Planksheer that is a myth. Hawaii's own people overthrew the crown, Queen Lulualikilani, after, she stated her intentions of throwing out Hawaii's own constitution and consolidate her power. Her own cabinet, of Hawaiians, told her that if she proceeded, she would not receive their support. Hawaii rejected the thrown, and, America HAD NO INVOLVEMENT in the matter, at all. Hawaiian resident here who abhors the lies now dividing the great state of Hawaii!

Every nation that's attacked many places on a grand scale has prospered and then fallen. All the way back to the middle ages the trend continues. Ancient Rome AND Renaissance Rome, The Holy Roman Empire, etc. on and on and on until now.
Yeah. You can take over a lot of land and do whatever you want if you have the biggest army, but what are you gonna do when all the armies you pissed off come back to haunt you?
America hasn't seemed to think about anything like that the last few decades.
EDIT: Didn't see the last hundred years part. Not changing the answer, just saying.

Two kinds of invasion Militaristic and economic .
The United States has used threats of violence against other nations in ts negotiations for what it wants .
Since the oil in Venezuela is going to become important it is up to the government to make all efforts both economic and militaristic against Venezuela .

Castro took Cuba back from Americans who were making millions off the sugar cane plantations and the cheap labor in cuba .
Not to mention the deals they forced on the economy of Cuba making it a place for Gambling and prostitution for rich Americans .

Call it what you want but America has been the most successful Invading force during the last 100 years .

And we have used force either directly or by turning one nation against another .

You might consider how the US seized Hawaii in 1898. It used to be a sovereign state prior to then. But only briefly did Germany, Italy, Japan benefit..
China's attack on Tibet may qualify too.

They all had hopes of prosperity with their acquisitions. I cannot think of one that was invaded for the sole purpose of prosperity that ever succeeded. The invasion of Iraq was not to prosper, but to liberate and stop economical disaster, so Iraq cannot be used as a example.
