For the same reason that there was slavery in the US in 1850. People were trying to push anti-slavery laws, but nothing really happened until the Civil War.

There's still slavery in different parts of the world. There are people doing something about it but the news just wants to talk about Britney or OJ.

There's certainly White Slavery where a lovely like you suddenly disappears and finds herself in some sheik's harem or in some other foreign country working as a prostitute for some crime organization very difficult to escape from alive.

slavery is still there in many forms.like contract labour,in many trades like drivers,maids and helpers.who will bell the cat is a question from you.you also can try to do something,dont wait for others to do

yup, over in foreign countries, aparently loads of children are sold as slaves and made work...im not sure why people dont do anything bout it, i think no one is able to, because they have their own government and their own laws!!
