I have read everything I can find about Yaz now I want to here from professionals and those who are on this medication/birth control.
I have been off the pill for 5 years and have been using other forms of birth control... Yet, I want to be sure I will not get pregnant. I am a runner 5'8 and about 128 lbs. My cycle has been irrregular ... I have had one cylce in the past 5 months. I am not really sure what is going on with my body. I don't know what's wrong. I am 42 and I have a new gp who is taking care of me. She has ordered blood testing and has a script of Yaz for me.
Please, give me your thoughts here about the drug thanks! L

I'm 39, will be 40 in January. I have been on Yaz since October of last year, but strictly for PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder). It's been a Godsend for me as far as alleviating my PMDD symptoms.
As for birth control purposes... I had the Essure procedure done back in 12/04, so I don't even need it for birth control.
Being that you are 42, you are probably entering the perimenopause stage, that's more than likely why your cycles have been irregular. I'm glad that your gyn has ordered blood work.

I have been taking Yaz for about 4 months. So far the only problem I have encountered is vaginal dryness. Yaz was prescribed due to low estogen levels.

I don't like the hormone bc.They drove me crazy.I just had a baby and decided to get a IUD put in.I got the Para Guard IUD.It has no hormones in it so it won't mess with your system.It has a 0.8 % pregnancy rate and lasts 10 years.You can't even feel it in you and it won't interfear with sex or tampons.It can be taken out any time if you want to get pregnant again.Good luck and feel well.
