As human nature being much the same, these type of incidents happen all over, so I do not believe they happen only in the south. This is just another case of the South being brow beat again. This is discrimination of the worst kind

This had nothing to do with the North or South. It had to do with publicity for the organizers, who have a long history of doing anything to get on camera. There is a problem with racism in Jena which needs to be dealt with. Whether it would have been done better quietly and in private is debatable. While the appeals court did overturn the trial as an adult, it didn't address the inappropriateness of the attempted murder charge when whites were only charged with 2nd degree battery in the same circumstances. If you believe it's discrimination for the publicity-seeking of some public figures to draw attention to a problem, I disagree. One of the first things that happened was some high powered lawyers got involved in the case, which is what the kids needed, so I applaud that result at least. Do I like the grandstanding? Not at all. Do I think that this incident will bring an understanding between the races in Jena? Probably not.

The racial attitutde change in south does come slower than rest of the country. The outward appearances and the institutions of racial divide might be gone. The innermost distrust still exists in people's hearts from different races. This is the last frontier of racial struggles.

As for Jenna 6 incident, the problem is no time coming. The school is racially mixed and incidents between races were common. A few black students were hanging out near a tree where white students usually gather. To serve as a warning, white students set up a noose on the tree. Had the school administrator delt serve punishments to the offending student for the lynching days the noose symbolizes. There will not be Jena 6. Again, it's lack of appreication for consequences that we are where we are today.

Once again the Media and it's two primary stooges ( Jackson & Sharpton) stirred up racist tensions to fill air time. The community had done the right thing but as usual the formenters of division in this country siezed the oppertunity to get camera time. The public should be alarmed that little america is at the mercy of free loaders who team up with media moguls to widen the divisions in this country. An intellignet spokesman for civil rights should have presented proposals of what should have been done not gather the herd for another media photo op. Naturally Sharpton and Jackson only push division not reconciliation.

Paco you really need to get an education. Your ignorance is showing! The Jena 6 was and incident that needs to be taken seriously. If your statement was an attempt at being funny, well your NOT! and the Jena 6 should make people in America look closer at diversity and tolerance between the races. Tell me why was in necessary for people to march in protest? Because it doesnt matter the color - the situation was WRONG! and how the police in that city handled it was WRONG!

This was brewing on the internet long before Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton got involved. They did not cause racial tension in Jena.

Boys will be boys and they are prone to violence. This has nothing to do with the South. Look at all the school shootings. They weren't all down south.
