here is my opinion i wrote this a month ago i paste on every question like this:
Xbox 360
Wow! is a word i've been using alot lately when it comes to Xbox 360, It is an amazing console in standard definition and a out of this world console on HD with or without Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, the 360 has a large array of games for all ages, and all types of gamers, for example Viva Pinata is for the everyday casual gamer and if fun to play with your children, and then theres Gears Of War and soon to come Halo 3 for the hardcore gamer, which support online so you can kick butt all over the world. The Xbox Live Service finally has a free silver membership which is great, but the gold for 50 buck a year is worth every dime. The Xbox 360 is very customizable with faceplates, colourful controllers and many different bundles availible. This system may be loud but it rarely freezes. In the end even though it has its flaw like the red ring of death, the only way to get that is if you dont take care of the $500 console you bought so im giving it a Rating of 9.9 out of 10.
PS3
I was actually very disappointed in this system, $700 in the beginning for a system that has nothing special but Blu-Ray. The games launched so far for this system have a 95% availability on Xbox 360, recently at E3 2K7, Sony announced that they are not going to have many exclusives except for the series that they are bringing from PS2 like Jak and Rachet and Clank. So when i got this monster, it was hooked up to a standard definition TV and it reminded me of the amazing PS2 graphics wise. Then on HDTV it looked like Xbox 360, which means Sony didn't really use the extra year they got after 360 was launch to make their system better. A problem that i noticed was freezing and overheating after 2, 3 hours of play. The online service is not to bad but it can improve. Rating 4 out of 10.
Also looks like the gulf between the price of a 360 and a PS3 continues to grow.
- At PS3 launch, it was a $100 difference between the 360 Premium ($399) and the PS3 Core ($499)
- Soon it will be a $150 difference between the 360 Premium ($350) and the PS3 clearance model ($499).
- Soon after that it will be a $250 difference, the the 360 Premium ($350) and the PS3 80 GB model ($599).
Does anyone else see the PS3 price is going in the wrong direction? Does anyone really think the PS3 is worth $250 more than the 360 just to play just a few (quite literally) exclusives?
Anyone that wants to throw in that PS3 plays BR movies, I ask, what does a BR player do for someone with just a SD TV?
And recent flyers have shown starting August 12th Xbox 360 is getting a price drop.
Toys R' Us flyers, Wal-Mart and Circuit City
The Premium will be $349 US
Core will be $279 US
and the famous Elite will be $449
this makes the PS3 price gap huger.
So go Xbox 360 you'll enjoy it more trust me, i'd only litterally use my PS3 as a Blu-Ray player.

OK I own both a 360 and a PS3 and these are the FACTS.
1. PS3 marginally outperforms the 360 in terms of hardware
2. PS3 has far better reliability record
3. You can do more with a PS3, such as linux, web browsing etc.
4. Sony network is FREE, and has verifiably LESS lag than LIVE.
The short answer dude is: no. They break, they make you cry, they are loud, overheating monsters that will eat your dog :) I loved my 360, still do, but it is fast fading in light of the PS3 and Wii picking up speed. Do yourself a favor and wait a couple moths and see what games are coming out that suit you, because it does not make a damn bit of difference what console is better, it is the games that matter. And for me, 360 has left me disinfranchised. So I got PS3 and have been happy with the games so far. But if you want a decent system that you dont care to upgrade and HAVE to play Halo, then by all means, get a 360. But I would definitely suggest waiting until the holidays. And as far as "the xbox won hands down", the PS3 has barely been around a year, whereas 360 has been out for 2, so this "war" has not even started yet, so dont be fooled by that drivel. I remember when the 360 launched, god it SUCKED compared to now, imagine what the ps3 will be in another year, I mean, look how far it has come since lauch.

I would say yes because the xbox 360 has the best online gaming community in the world and its much cheaper than the ps3. There are alot more games avaliable to play and halo 3 is just a few days away. All that crap that ps3 owners say about overheating and 360s breaking down has been fixed by microsoft Also the 360 allows you to play online against pc owners with the same game. Besides Blu ray will not catch on for the next 2 years atleast or untill the price drops considerably.

Almost a third of XBOX 360 are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only 0.3%.
Let's compare them
PS3 has 8 kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3x2
PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 50 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular DVD (4.7 gb).
Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second
Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second
PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in card reader (except 20 gb version), ability to use printer and so on.
Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.
PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers
Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers
PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)
Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 130 $
Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of doom" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 8 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it.
Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is a uninventive nerd (as usual).
When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.
In 2008 we'll get more than 300 games.
In some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".

I would say Yes if you want to save money and don't care about blu ray. Absolutely make sure though that you buy it from a store that offers a lifetime warranty so you can bring it back to that store and exchange it there when it breaks down because trust me it will. IF the lifetime warranty costs extra I still strongly recommend you get it.
