That's like asking, when the sun doesn't come up tomorrow.. what will you do? If the US goes bankrupt, so does the rest of the world as we are truly in a global economy, and the rest of the world needs us just we need them.

Yesterday I read the Canadian dollar is on par with the US dollar. This is an extremely bad sign!! Of course the spin doctors will 'explain' why in fact Canada's dollar being equal to ours is no big deal, and maybe even convince some folks it's a good thing!
I like the Mad Max approach personally. I think I'd start with getting a big front end loader from a nearby job site. (Were currently building a light rail here in Seattle, so acquiring a front end loader would be easy) Then I'd get a large piece of steel to use as armor plating. Then I'd take over a gas station. And even though I hate them, necessity would dictate I have some guns - and plenty of ammo. A flame thrower would be nice too - maybe an occasional torching of someone trying to get at my gas station - it would definitely send a message to any other would be gas robbers. (I think a Safeway gas station would be the way to go - it comes complete with a grocery store after all).
The moral of the story is that indeed the US will go bankrupt - it's just a matter of time. However, I really doubt any foreign powers would have the ability to actually send troops in. Maybe China will someday but that would just be part of a massive take over.
Besides, there isn't anything here worth protecting - the oil is in the middle east.

What a strange world you live in if you think any of that is likely to happen
1. If the USA gets anywhere close to becoming bankrupt they will liquidate their foreign assets first - which means all the businesses they finance overseas will collapse.
2. Foreign owners of US-based businesses do not control armies; armies are controlled by governments.
3. Invading a country is a very poor way of protecting the property in it as wars tend to destroy property. If you invaded the US then all your assets would immdiately be seized in the US and frozen in all the many countries around the world that support the US.
4. If Japan and Germany failed to come anywhere near close to invading the USA in WWII it seems even more unlikely that any army could successfully invade the US now.
5. As the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund are dominated by the US and its allies it seems unlikely that any such intervention would take place, either military of monetary.

If the US goes bankrupt, I will take advantage of any bankruptcy sales they have. So I will start saving gold bullion bars now because they probably won't take US dollars. I would buy a mid-west state before I would buy a coastal state, because global warming may flood those out.
China owns most of the US debt now, so they will go under too if the US does. China is the manufacturing arm of the US, so they are highly dependent on each other.

If we continue to follow the Greeks in our implementation of a government system, we will also experience the same outcome.
The Greeks, Romans, etc. all had the same issue. In the goal of conquering the world and expanding their empire, they over-extended themselves and the republics perished.

if it does, we, the u.s. will always recover. there is too many people here that life will go on. u.s. will find other meens to pop right back. then maybe the rich folks will come down to the poor people and we will be equile. poor people always know how to get the things they need. industry will come back to the u.s. and life here will be better. the rich will have to let us be there for them. poor folks then will help them.

Hehehe. I already have my unknown, well-hidden, totally self-contained, and completely defensible (up to a nuclear warhead) 'hole-in-the-wall' already chosen, provisioned, and waiting only for myself and a few family and friends to move in.

I'll start travelling. I've always kind of wanted to be a wanderer of sorts. I guess that's what I am at heart.
