There are a bunch of websites you can get free backgrounds and layouts fromm for free. when u find a background you like their should be a code somewhere on the page. copy that code, then past it into the 'about me' section of your myspace profile.

Keep your myspace open and minimize it.
Open (for instance, this is a good one) pimp-my-profile.com (yes, use dashes) and go to Myspace Layout (this has the most layouts) -- find one you like and there is a code --- copy it (block/copy)
Maximumize your myspace and go to Edit Profile
Under "About me" at the very top, right click and click paste ---- then save changes.
It might make you retype letters to okay it -- and when it says "profile updated" -- click home and THEN click "profile" under your profile pic and your new page will come up.

If you have a big picture that will take up the entire screen you'll want to use this code in your styles which should be in your about me section.

background-image:url(IMAGE URL);
background-repeat:no-repeat;

If you have a pic that is smaller and you want to repeat you would use.

background-image:url(IMAGE URL);

This will repeat the image for the width and height of your screen. Just change IMAGE URL with the url of your image
