Yes you can have a miscarriage and not know it, usually your period is heavier with more clots and goes for a little longer. In both my miscarriages I found that because of increased cervical mucus that the bleeding was stringy and lots of mucus. The embryo that you miscarry is usually only a small ball of cells not very big, I think that when you are four weeks pregnant the embryo is only millimetres big anyway sorry probably tmi.
Hope that helps with your question.

Yes. A miscarriage can seem like nothing more than an unusually heavy period. If you think you've had a miscarriage, you need to see a doctor for proper care. Dr. will most likely need to do a D&C after a miscarriage.

Many cycles an egg may be fertilized but other circumstances can prevent sustaining a pregnancy. Your cycle can and may change throughout your life. So your clots can change. If you suspect you were pg...might be a good idea to see your ob/gyn. If they determine that you were pg they may want to do a d&c to be sure that there is no residual tissue left that can create scar tissue and prevent future pregnancies.

I agree with abbiedarling1, the same thing happened to me, except the little sack was like a creamy color in the middle not black. However before the sack came out of me, I had the worst cramps in the world, I thought my legs were going to fall off.
