People today have a longer lifespan than they did a century ago. Most men back then died by the time they were 50, and few women lived past 70. Until the early part of this century, people who were born would have a much higher chance of living a lot longer. Now the age of death is declining..... I may outlive my children.

As I see it the main reason for this is environmental. As humans, we have poisoned the air we breathe ( pollution), the water we drink (lead pipes in our homes) , the planet we live on. We dump our toxins into rivers, lakes and streams and then eat the fish that come from them. We dump our toxins into landfills, which poison the earth for centuries to come, where chemicals seep into the groundwater, further poisoning us.

Depends on what your definiton of living is, though i tend to agree with you. It seems while peolple may be living longer chronologicaly speaking, in essence there realy exzisting longer yet living shorter life spans as far as interaction with each other.every one is on some kind of meds to be able to cope with one thing or another. I feel like i'm back in the pyschodelic 60t's. and as for modern medicine, well, with all the side affects and recalls on drugs, at times one's better off with the illness then the cure if there was ever a cure to begin
with . . .

People are deffinately not as close with each other as they
use to be, not in the real world, maybey on the internet but
even that has it's obvious down sides along with it's limitations . . .

In some way the internet has become the heroin of the
21st century, which in itself can easily contribute to the
death of one's spirit because of the heightened illusive
expctations it causes, and when that happen's the death
of one's own physicality isn't far behind . . .

Life has become more of a zerox copy machine whith
every one putting the paper in and yet nothing is realy
coming out because some one forgot to put the ink in.
it's like every one's going through the motions and yet
not realy moving, more like trying to imitate the past by
reinventing what was sucessful then , so as to fit it into
todays world only to find nothing has the staying power
it once had, as though life itself has finnaly had enough
of our crap and has resigned itself to it's own prescription
meds leaving us to fend for ourselves . . .

In essence we've become nothing more than transparent
cartoon figures, trying the best we can and yet always plauged with the feeling that something that gave those
who came before us, a certain meaning or quality if you
will to yesterday's life, isn't around any more and
we just can't seem to put our finger on what it is or the
reason why that with all our new technological innovations,
simply put, just ain't freaking making it for us . . .

This really depends on the lifespan, of different living things. A disaster, or unexpected death, or even a bad out-look on something, can cause a shorter life then usual.

The consensus is that people are living longer, but you have to be specific when talking about age groups. The consensus is also that people are dying younger, due to drugs, gang violence, etc., so it really depends on where you start to count. God Bless.
