i get the feeling that 99 percent of them take the attitude of john edwards, that the war on terror is just a bumper sticker...do you have any idea how dangerous that approach to terror is? can any liberal explain why we should NOT worry about their approach to truly dangerous situations like the one we see developing with syria and israel??

If one wishes to reveal the true intentions of the liberal wing of the Democratic party, look at how they handled the ambassadorship of John Bolton. Here was a man who was not afraid to confront our enemies and call their bluffs. How was he received by American Democrats....he was run out of office just so the Dems could give Bush a political black eye.
Conservatives, led by Bush, have continued to approach this war against Islamists as what it is; a very real threat to our civilization. Liberals have continually schemed to portray this conflict as a political ruse by Bush to maintain political power for his party. Since liberals perceive Bush as living by politics, they desire to make him die via politics by sabotaging the war effort for selfish partisan gain.
Look at how the two parties talk about the future in Iraq. Conservatives say we must win this war (which would logically lead to the removal of troops), while liberals scream for troop withdrawals because the war has become seemingly too costly. Apparently liberals wish to return to the days of prosecuting terrorists (a la the Clinton administration) with "law-fare", and not deal with the decisiveness of killing the Islamists through warfare.
I laugh that liberals think conservatives are illiterate war-mongers, because apparently it is liberals who are not well-read on the intentions and very words of warning from our enemies.
Conservatives are the inheritors of Winston Churchill's vision of victory, while liberals have become the griping and despondent cabal of Neville Chamberlain-style appeasment. Read your WWII history and you will see which of these two groups were proven correct in their beliefs and actions.

This administration has done nothing to protect us from terrorism. Their idea to deal with the issue of terrorism is to drop bombs.
Dialog would be the beginning in solving this.
By the way, have you forgotten that GW stated "the war on terrorism is not a winnable war"?
Based on results to this day, his words are so true.

what makes you think that we are any less capable than you might be? i really don't see that the present administration is doing a good job on handling anything. you can quit patting yourself on the back. all of those middle east countries play the united states like a drum. do you really think they care what we say or do?

ellen;my stepson is on his third tour there as well, and i spent 8 years in the army including viet nam. the real wars for freedom were fought long ago. all these wars now do is distract us while the real powers rape this world and us too.

I guess only conservatives are fighting in Iraq. To hear some people talk, all conservatives are jerks & to hear liberals talk, all conservatives are jerks. Sounds like grade school stuff to me. Their are good people on both sides, unfortunately, they AREN'T in congress. And thats what you get when you vote party instead of people. I encourage all voters to look at the person, not the party. Elect good people to office, regardless of party. The party people we have elected to office are sticking it to us in a huge way, both democrats & republicans.

The democrats are not capable of handling a hotdog stand in Manhattan, how could they be capable of dealing with North Korea and Iran?
