I would find it patronising,I don't remember which one but I was watching this TV show and the guy patted the girl on the head and said it will be alright,he meant it in a nice way but she sort of felt odd you could tell,and all the others were like that was a bit of a funny way to make her feel better lol.

I don't like it because I'm not a dog. And dogs don't "like" being pat on the head so much as they just wish you would keep petting them instead of just giving them a little pat. My dogs would NEVER let me get away with just a pat on the head!

It's perverse and disgusting to premeditate or experience it. On the other hand, some poor folks just don't know any better and we should help them by kindly recognizing their benevolent intentions.
Dogs don't like it either, they want to be stroked and fed, or talked to. However perverse it may be to talk to or touch a dog, this pales in comparison to the patting of a human being on the head.

well i dont like it too much when ppl pat me on the head, that just makes me feel like they are treating me like a child or a dog. but i guess you can say it was patrionizing

I would find it most annoying indeed.I would rather be patting you on the shoulders lightly.When you have achieved one of your goals in life.With caring friendship behind it.and affection.
