what does it mean when people say it doesnt count?

a long time ago i had a giant crush on a female celebrity but people told me it didnt count.

A crush is a crush whether you knew this person (in real) life or not. Its your feelings and you know if you have a crush or not, right?

I had a crush on a few male Celebrities when I was young and still remember what it felt like all these years later.
So it does count... Its just a crush..

because its a celebrety....someone you'll never actually get the chance to be with...
