myth because the a/c compressor only turns when the motor is running....also a word to the wise an a/c compressore there is a clutch that is electric when you turn off ignition it releases clutch so it cant turn, also there is about 2 seconds after car starts before a/c clutch engages the a/c compressoryou know that clicking sound you here after car starts thats th a/c. so again it is myth. regardless to popular belief.

I always make sure that aircon is off before shutting down. Its a throw back to my aviation days, when you completely unload the engine before shutdown. Its the same when starting.
